Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary
Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary is situated in the state of Haryana and is about 50 Kms. from Delhi and 15 Kms. from Gurgaon on the Gurgaon-Farukh Nagar Road. The best season to visit the sanctuary is November to February, during which period a lot of migratory birds from all over the bird visit the sanctuary for winter nesting. The sanctuary is opened to public from 6.00 A.M onwards and the best time to visit is during the early morning hours, preferrably upto 8.30 A.M. The journey by road from Delhi is very pleasing as one passes through many villages with lush green vegetation all around.

This bird sanctuary was established in 1971 on the recommendations of Late Smt. Indira Gandhi our then Prime Minister, who in turn was influenced to do so by Late Mr. Peter Jackson the then honorary President of the Bird Watchers Association of India. The bird sanctuary which encompasses an area of 359 acres has since been upgraded to the status of a National Park by the Haryana Government in 1991. This place which finds mention in the Birtish time Gazettes as Salt Pan is basically a marsh wetland. In order to bloster tourism, the Haryana Government has also developed a tourist complex named as the 'Rosy Pelican' in the vicinity which not only offers Resturant services but is also equipped with rooms for visitors who wants to spend some quality time in vicinity of the nature. Within the precints of the Sanctuary an educational centre dedicated in the name of Late Dr. Salim Ali has also been established.

There are a large variety of birds that can be watched at the sanctuary although the watchtowers are no longer usable due to non maintenance, but being near the nature is a blessing in itself.
