MIGRANTS, MIGRATION AND MUMBAI

In order to sustain everything need fresh fuel, be it in form of intellectual or manual or artistic replenishment.  Without fresh infusion, dynamics of any city/culture is bound to die.  Small people like Raj Thackrey cannot think big and it is best that they be ignored and this will be best snub, as to sustain a rehetoric also one requires fuel.  Therefore, rather than fuel it the best is to ignore it, so that it dies its own natural death.

Woman’s day Special Page 3 @ Indu

Women have been held in high esteem in the Indian society, however, social evils like dowry etc. which has creeped in of late has made their status vulnerable.  However, the primary & foremost task that should be undetaken is to educate our womenfolk, this will not only help us build a appropriate base for the society as a whole but also go a long way is dispelling the myths engrained in their psyche from childhood.

Can A Married Woman Have A Fling Outside Marriage?

Dear Ms.Julia,
A very telling description of the urban undercurrrent.  This has been in vogue in the past also but relationships were restrained within extended families brother in laws etc. and thus, was not visible to the outside world.  But this was very infrequent and not only the female but even the male was looked down upon by the Society.  Sh. Sharat Chandra Chatterjee has in his works dealt with such relationships existing during the the 19th & early 20th Century social structure.  However, this code to moral turpitude ingrained into our Society norms is the one & only outstanding cultural heritage which binds our families together despite the fact that at times in arranged marraiges completely opposite persons come together in marraige.  This bond of mutual tolerance & forbearance in a family is what is outstanding and makes a family as it exists today.  Contrary to this, if we let go of our traditions the fall out will be akin to what is happenning in the Western countries - divorce & marraige & divorce - a unbroken cycle, due to mutual mistrust such openess brews.

Dear Mr. Naval Langa
I liked the style of prose you have used.  I think that some of whom who have sent comments have completely missed your point of view.  The metaphor used by you regarding the fact of one losing his leg in case the man had a tongue reflects the physical nature of equation one man enjoys with another.  Whereas, on the other hand if women had the tongue, the constant chatter oof demands etc. can completely make a person mad in case he is unable to contain it.

EDITORS OF SULEKHA, ARE YOU LISTENING?

Dear Avinashjee

I should compliment you for being ourightly honest & blunt.  I also do agree with your observations but it is difficult to gauge the intent of editors as I was especially sent a gift by the same team.  However, when I was browsing though the Uttaranchal site I saw that in the featured desitnations like Rishikesh & Haridwar did not contain any reference to my travelogue and the Kedarnath portal showed that there were no travelogues available on this particular desitination whereas my travelogue on this place had been featured by these very editors.  I am really in a quandry as to how the assess their behaviour.  The alternate route I have taken is slow down my pace to barest minimum.  Hope they go through the comments posted here.

Black and White

Can such Andre's with flickering minds meet up to the Indian traditions of 'till death do us apart' - soul of an Indian marraige.  Such illusions are thus are only illusions far fetched from reality!
